Sylvia
03:54
|
|||
Oh, Sylvia won’t you stay?
Your mind is golden
And your eyes are jade
Your smile is a diamond
And your tears are the rain
Your eyes hold the sunrise
And your heart holds the day
Your mind’s full of moonlight
But you’re fading away
Oh, Sylvia won’t you stay?
We met in the summer
And my world was grey
I couldn’t see colour
I was scared of the day
As you spoke the clouds lifted
And I felt myself breathe
My vision was misted
I could finally see
Oh, Sylvia won’t you stay?
Under the alder
you caught my gaze
your hands were the ocean
The sea in your veins
We walked to the altar
And we made our escape
We walked to the alder
And left the same day
Oh, Sylvia won’t you stay?
In the days that I loved you
In the days that came
I lost it all for you
We gave it away
I gave you everything you wished for
Still, I remain
Under the alder
Surrounded by grey
Under the alder
Stagnant, insane
Encased in grey
Sylvia, why won’t you stay?

Apricots
03:37
|
|||
Underneath the orange lights you start
Whisper of the shadows that you saw
Tell me that I’m sweet like apricots
Tenderly, so tenderly I stop
And watch my soul yield to you
As my whole soul leaps to you
Tell me that I’m sweet like apricots
Underneath the willow that I loved
Hold me as I whisper what I want
Tenderly, so tenderly I stop
And watch my soul yield to you
As my whole soul leaps to you
Whisper I'm like apricots, so sweet
Tell me if I stay, I’m yours to keep
I’ll savor misty eyes, don’t favor me
Tenderly, and silently I'll cease
To watch my soul yield to you
As my whole soul leaps to you
And my whole life comes to view
I promise I’ll watch the world for you

Vividly
03:53
|
|||
Buy me a spirit
And put your arm around mine
I’m lost in quotations
And words so divine
Your cultured pretension
And wonderful eyes
I’m losing my spirit
And I’m lost in my mind
But something strange will resonate as you ricochet around my mind
I’ll believe in fate, I’ll leap in faith, gather hope in any place I find
'Til I know your heat by proximity
Your love by association
And I still see you vividly
As I stumble through my life
So I’ll live by your memory
And love in approximation
Til I fear the futility
Of keeping you out of my mind
I’m fuelled by rage
At what I’ve become
I’m acting my age
I have to confront
Your words so inane
And so very few
Now I’m so afraid
Of what I can do
And something strange will resonate as you ricochet around my mind
I’ll believe in fate, I’ll leap in faith, gather hope in any place I find
Til I know your heat by proximity
Your love by association
And I still see you vividly
As I stumble through my life
So I’ll live by your memory
And love in approximation
Cause I fear the futility
Of keeping you out of my mind

The Forest
03:28
|
|||
I am the forest
I breathe through the trees
I look through the branches
I see through the leaves
And I was the lucky one,
You watered my roots
You were the gardener
When I was a shoot
You were once my jungle when I longed for brighter times
Your beating heart was humble but your love was hard to find
And I am now the forest, though I wish that you were mine
My branches grow right past you but the ivy,
the ivy grows for you
The girl in yellow,
She floats with the wind
She sings of sorrow
Could’ve been anything
But I was the lucky one
She asked me to follow
She was a songbird
When I was a swallow
You were once my songbird when I hadn’t learnt to sing
You told me I could hold the notes but never taught a thing
And I am still the swallow but my songs are now in time
And if my words should find you through the ivy,
Know I still sing for you

Life In Amber
02:53
|
|||
It's dusky in the evening
Headlights coming home
Heavy air I’m breathing
Headlights moving slow
Heavy in the morning
And early in the day
Orange lights of evening
Orange glow in may
Watching life in amber
Watching life tonight
Hiding in my slumber
Hiding in the night
Watching life in amber
And everything I know
Orange lights surround me
Revel in their glow
Watching as the railways
Are bending with my mind
Orange lights of lives
Pass by me as I fly
Heavy in the evening
And heavier in flight
My heart is wrapped in clover
My mind is my delight
Watching life in amber
Walking through the night
Orange glow of streetlights
Illuminate my mind
Watching life in amber
Watching life tonight
Stuck in mellow wonder
At all the world tonight
